The nature of this blog means that I will frequently use technical terms, acronyms and other such language. To save you trawling around the web trying to find meaning in these words, I have now set up a glossary. It can be found on the information bar at the right hand side of this blog.

Glossary
3G - 3rd Generation Mobile Phones. Usually this refers to the wireless data capabilities. 3G phones are able to download data from the internet faster which has made mobile video, audio and web surfing a reality.
Blog - From web log. A kind of internet journal which allows users to access information published by the maintainer of the blog. You are currently reading a blog!
Bluetooth - A short range wireless data transmission standard. It is generally used by mobile devices to transfer files (usually music/video/images) over a range of about 10 metres.
Flash - A piece of software published by Adobe. It allows interactive and animated graphics to be opened by a computer or mobile device.
GPRS - General Packet Radio Service. A method of wireless data access for mobile phones. Data is usually billed per kilobyte.
Javascript - A kind of web based programming language which allows users to interact with web content in some way.
Skype - A piece of software that allows people to make free video calls and voice calls over the internet using VoIP. The software can also be used to call real telephones at massively reduced billing rates.
VoIP - Voice over IP (Internet Protocol). This is a way of allowing users to make free "telephone" and video conferencing calls over the internet. In order to do this you need a broadband connection and a suitable piece of software such as Skype.
WAP - Wireless Access Protocol. This was one of the first ways that mobile devices could achieve access to the internet. It is now slow and outdated.
